Message on Voyager I e II:
“Siamo esseri intelligenti esperti in matematica e capaci di organizzare nel tempo sequenze coerenti di suoni al fine di produrre una composizione denominata musica, una forma d’arte che per verità, eccellenza, originalità ed altre qualità indefinibili produce, nella mente e nei sensi di chi la ascolta, un piacere trascendentale chiamata bellezza”.
La radice greca della parola estasi contiene un’accezione di terrore, follia, spostamento.
G.Gould: “l’isolamento è la componente indispensabile della felicità umana”.
L’isolamento era l’unico modo a sua (di G. Gould) disposizione per sperimentare l’estasi.
Nelle culture antiche il solitario è una figura maligna. Minaccia il benessere del gruppo. Noi però lo conosciamo perché lo incontriamo in noi stessi e negli altri. Vive in contrappunto, una sagoma in sbiadita lontananza. Ecco ciò che è: Persistentemente solo.

“We are intelligent beings, expert in math and able to organize in the time coherent sounds sequences to produce a composition called music, an art-form that for truth, excellence, originality and other indefinable qualities produces, in the listener mind and senses, a trascendental pleasure called beauty".
The greek root of the "ecstasy" word holds a meaning of terror, madness, mental displacement.
G.Gould: “isolation is the essential component of human happyness”.
Isolation (for him) was the only way to experiment the ecstasy.
In the ancient cultures isolated people were seen as malign figures. Threath for the wellness of the group. We know them (isolated people) because we met them in ourselves and in the others. They live in countepoints, shades in a faded distance. Here what they are: persisently alone.
